MIDI-Patch

The idea of the MIDI-Patch is to give your digital instruments a more modular feeling. Set up a Max patch, an Ableton session or hook it up to your synth and route your signals by actually patching them by hand. The device is Arduino teensy based and sends MIDI via USB. Each unique patch connection sends its own MIDI CC number and has a value of 0 when not connected and 127 when a connection is made.

Since for example in a Max patch the CCs could be mapped to pretty much anything one can go further than actually thinking of the patching as logical signal flow routing but of a patch as a switch matrix and having specific patch combinations have functions and not just the individual connections. Another fun task could be giving patching order and timing a significance thereby giving the system hysteresis.
